All current and former Avengers are invited to a big meeting at Avengers Tower. Spider-Man and the new Nova arrive at the same time and trade quips before entering. The room is a-buzz with chatter and curiosity over the sudden call. The new Captain America appears on the balcony, backed by his allies (Thor, Scarlet Witch, Luke Cage, Medusa) and announces that the Red Skull has escaped their custody. He accuses one of the members present of aiding that escape—and since identifying the culprit would take too long, he shrinks them all to microscopic size to imprison them in Hank Pym’s subatomic prison. Spidey grabs Nova and leaps through the window but Medusa uses her living tresses to try to snatch Nova back. He rockets off with Spidey in tow but they are pursued by Cap and Wanda. The heroes get away with the help of Magneto, as Wanda heads back to the bad Avengers and announces she has no further use for any of them….
Magneto takes Spidey and Nova to Avengers Mansion where they meet up with the elderly Steve Rogers and the new Nomad (Steve’s adoptive son Ian). Magnus explains how all the super-powered people who were on Genosha to fight Red Onslaught have had their alignment inverted. They see a news story of Kluh (the evil Hulk) on a rampage downtown—and Nova zips out to confront him….
Apocalypse (the former Genesis) and the X-Men invade Avengers Tower where they find Captain America brainwashing Wasp and boasting of the tyranny he he’s plotting. Havok blasts Cap for his treatment of Jan and the rest of the X-Men bounce him around. They learn that the Red Skull is gone. Apocalypse tells Cap to deliver a message: the mutants want all humans to evacuate Manhattan in three hours under pain of death….
