Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #13 Review by (June 7, 2023)

Review: Pretty dull issue with the focus being on minute character bits among the bad guy forces. The Outer Circle isn’t very interesting, White Wolf is just another sneering bad guy, Bucky’s objectives are still hard to comprehend, and Natasha and Peggy bickering over the latter’s motivations didn’t hold my interest. And the plot doesn’t advance at all: the heroes could have just brushed themselves off after the explosion at the end of Part 3 and we’d be in the same place. The finale had better be good.

Comments:Cold War” Part 5 of 6. Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly.

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #13 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Story continued from CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #13.

White Wolf gloats to Bucky Barnes a/k/a the new Revolution over the death of “Bucky’s” Captain America, Steve Rogers. But Bucky knows Cap isn’t dead because he is “a mission” and the mission never ends….

Elsewhere, Steve Cap awakens in the snow, pulls himself together, and hurries down the mountain, pursued by an avalanche. At the bottom, Sharon Carter and Misty Knight are beating the Phrox warriors sent after them. Captain America Sam Wilson, flying reconnaissance, spots the avalanche and calls a warning to the women. As it engulfs the Phrox, Steve Cap leaps high into the air to be caught by Sam Cap. On the ground, Steve apologizes to Sam for jeopardizing the mission over fear for Ian’s safety….

White Wolf sneers at Bucky’s support for Captain America, asking him why then is he in the Outer Circle? Bucky replies that following Cap’s way won’t let him win the game. Bucky summons the other two members of the Outer Circle, Money and Power, who appear via hologram. He gloats as he is the sole possessor of the miracle element Neganite and he refuses to deal with the others. They point out that he is repeating the mistakes of his predecessor, including trying to use Captain America as a pawn. Meanwhile, Black Widow and Dryad duel verbally, with Natasha reminding Peggy that she (Nat), there to help her friend, is the only hero. Peggy bristles and threatens Nat while telling her she (Peggy) was duped into joining the Outer Circle’s game and she lost everything she had but she claims she has helped win a war, one that Natasha can’t see….

In his throne room, White Wolf assumes a werewolf form, while ordering his minions to begin the invasion of Earth….

Story concluded in CAPTAIN AMERICA: COLD WAR OMEGA.
