With Bucky and Toro staying in the US
as part of the Kid Commandos, the rest of the Invaders (Captain America,
Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, Spitfire, Union Jack) head off on
their next mission via Namor's flagship. On the way, Union Jack fills
them in on the mission: to battle a bad guy called the Teutonic Knight.
Cap, Subby, and Torch all react; each of them has faced this
villain before....
Cap relates how he and Bucky were
assigned to guard a warehouse where some government secrets were
being stored. One of these was the blueprints for a “flying
arsenal,” a heavily armed saucer-shaped aircraft. One night a Nazi
plane landed off shore disguised as an aircraft in distress. The
Teutonic Knight led a raid on the warehouse and set it aflame,
escaping with the plans for the flying arsenal while Cap and Bucky
were rescuing soldiers from the fire....
Human Torch explains how he and Toro
were aboard a train, guarding top scientist Dr Barrow and his plans
for a new type of engine when the Teutonic Knight boarded the train
and seized the doctor and his plans, knowing that the heroes flaming
on would threaten the rest of the passengers. The T-Knight escaped in
his plane with Torch and Toro in pursuit when the villain bombed the
railroad tracks, forcing the two heroes to let the baddie go so they
could save the train....
Namor reveals how he had been on a
tanker ship carrying the rare element Radium-X with his friend, war
correspondent Betty Dean, when the ship was attacked by a submarine.
Namor sank the sub only to find it was a diversion while Teutonic
Knight and his men could take Betty and the ship's captain and crew
hostage to steal the Radium-X. The baddies escaped by plane,
releasing a gas that dried out Subby's skin forcing him to abandon
the chase....
The Invaders discover that the Teutonic
Knight has built the flying arsenal, installed Dr Barrows' engine,
and fueled it with Radium-X and is now attacking England aboard his
Fliegentod (Flying Death)....
