Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Iron Man/Thor #3 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Inside the conceptual space that is Diablo’s Secret Hermetica, Iron Man and Ulik are battling furiously. Outside in the Smithsonian Museum, Thor is engaged in combat with the Crimson Dynamo. With the aid of his dragon, Thor vanquishes his foe and enters the Hermetica just as Diablo overpowers Shellhead with a mystical gas. The Thunder God demands an explanation from the High Evolutionary; instead Diablo casts a spell which causes the two Avengers to see each other as the enemy and forces them to fight. As they are occupied, Crimson Dynamo and Ulik easily overcome them and they are integrated into the apparatus, with Iron Man supplying the technological factor and Thor the divine ingredient. In view of Iron Man’s unsuitability for the role of new god, Diablo makes a suggestion to the High Evolutionary: that the master scientist becomes his own subject. The process is begun as the heroes awaken, and the High Evolutionary discovers that, through Diablo’s trickery, it is the sinister alchemist who is fused with the Destroyer, achieving godhood….
