Loki: Agent of Asgard #16 Review by (July 30, 2015)
Comments: Cover title: LAST DAYS OF LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD, a tie-in to SECRET WARS (3). Among the warriors of Valhalla is Bill Son of Bill, killed in THOR GIANT-SIZE FINALE in 2010; another is Einar Lone-Rider, seen only in THOR #367.

Review: As we come to the end of another Ragnarok, this one lighter than most, we also see the whole Thor supporting cast wrapped up in a big blue ball, ready to be opened and the contents poured out into whatever venue Thor will have after the relaunch. One amazing bit: the part with the sunglasses is the most memorable and the funniest.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Loki: Agent of Asgard #16 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

The final battle against the forces of Death sees the mighty Volstagg slain and he arrives in Valhalla, place of honor for dead heroes. His welcome is short-lived as Freyja, herself among the dead (since last issue), summons them all to join the new Ragnarok. They are greeted by Lorelei and Sigurd who bring talismans from Earth to confer the heroic magic known as “cool” namely, sunglasses….

Back in New York, Verity Willis is outraged that Loki (now the God of Stories and female) would kill her body and free her spirit. She settles down and while Loki is musing on what enemy they may be facing; it’s King Loki as the page turn reveals…

At the battle, King Loki uses his magic staff to kill Sif and Hogun as young Loki arrives to snatch away the staff. Young taunts old who vents about always being hated. Then Freyja arrives (wearing sunglasses) with new allies: Beta Ray Bill, Karnilla Queen of the Norns, and Idunn; the cowardly old Loki flees. Both Odin and Hela appeal to young Loki to join their sides but he walks out on them and Ragnarok resumes, heading to its bloody conclusion...

…and Loki captures the entire scene in a glowing blue ball to hold their stories safe for a later date. It just hits Verity that with the universe gone, all of her family and friends are dead—suddenly Loki is summoned before the Gods Above Gods….
