Synopsis

Avengers, The (1963 series) #176 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars
Starhawk arrives at Avengers Mansion and Iron Man fills him in on the situation. Moondragon starts to put the puzzle pieces together, pausing briefly to erase from Quicksilver’s mind his animosity against Vision and sneering at Hercules’ horseplay with Thor. Meanwhile, various heroes use their special abilities to gather information about the mysterious Enemy: Ms. Marvel’s seventh sense, Yellowjacket’s contact with ants, Jocasta’s cybernetic senses, Captain Marvel’s oneness with the universe, though Starhawk detects nothing due to Michael’s alteration of his senses. Moondragon coordinates it all and it points to a house in Forest Hills, to the amazement of the Avengers. Unable to use their vehicles because of Gyrich’s revocation of their priority status, the heroes must commandeer a bus to get to the neighborhood in question. They knock on Michael’s door and he admits them, subtly manipulating their minds so that he passes as an ordinary homeowner. But his scheme backfires when Starhawk demands to know why the Avengers are reacting to an empty room; it seems that the Guardian member can’t even see or hear their nemesis due to Michael’s earlier blocking of his senses. Michael/Korvac is saddened that they are opposing him in his plan to bring the universe under his benevolent rule, and as he knows Earth’s other deities will soon be attacking him, he assumes his cosmic form to destroy the Avengers.

Review / Commentaries

Avengers, The (1963 series) #176 Review by (November 11, 2014)
Moondragon may remove Quicksilver's hatred of Vision (and other androids), but Pietro will still turn out to have many other unlikable personality quirks. And Moondragon's high-handed superiority will continue to be featured.
