Thor: God of Thunder #22 Review by (May 25, 2014)
Review: Wait…what happened to Ulik? All I see are some generic trolls—so why is he on the cover? It looks like the final battle between Thor and Roxxon will come to a head in the next issue’s concluding chapter—so we’ve gotten rid of the lawyers, the one thing that set this story apart from any other, and we’ll just have Thor fighting monsters? That’s what it looks like from here. Meanwhile Esad Ribic’s art is getting so dark it’s hard to tell what is going on. If I weren’t the manager of the Mighty Thor Library, I’d give up on this title. And that title—a parody of John 3:16, the most beloved verse in the New Testament—is more proof that Jason Aaron is no friend to Christians; would Stan Lee have allowed mockery of any religious group?

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor: God of Thunder #22 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

The far future: Having defeated King Thor, Galactus begins to feed on the desolate Earth. His meal is interrupted by the advent of the Goddesses of Thunder….

The present: SHIELD Agent Roz Solomon flies over Broxton, surveying the damaged caused by Roxxon’s takeover. She spies a disguised Thor below and descends to speak with him. Roz tries to warn the God of Thunder that any action he may take will only make things worse for the city. He explains that he trusts her and departs. Roz descends into a massive sinkhole and her car is crushed by a falling rock. She is confronted by trolls who want to make a meal out of her; she starts firing maximum caliber bullets at them….

The far future: Thor’s granddaughters battle the massive Galactus to a standstill. Thor, lost in the desolate reaches of space, flies with great haste…in the opposite direction….

The present: Roxxon boss Dario Agger enters Bill’s Diner and orders the owners to vacate as the place will be torn down for a fast-food franchise. The citizens defy him and Thor arrives outside to challenge him; Agger presses a button and a sinkhole opens in the street swallowing his lawyers. As his trolls arrive, Agger takes on his Minotaur form to face Thor….

The far future: King Thor finds the massive black hole he was searching for. He enters to recover All-Black the Necrosword, the weapon of the late unlamented Gorr the God Butcher….
