World War Hulks: Captain America vs. Wolverine #1 Review by (July 2, 2018)

Review:Wolverine meets Winter Soldier” is the main story here with the Hulked-out heroes bit being just a lot of bashing and smashing to keep the reader interested. Oddly, out of all the HULKED OUT HEROES tie-ins to WORLD WAR HULKS, this is the only entry that isn't played for comedy and it hurts the tale, too full of torture and grim stuff to enjoy. Plus the thing really isn't very interesting. And it doesn't help that Hulked-out Wolverine reminded me of the “stupid stupid rat creatures” from BONE. The Monica Rambeau tale was too confusing to be interesting though the Ben vs. Johnny tale in issue #2 was a lot of fun to read, especially the conversations between Reed and Sue.

Comments: A No-Prize to anyone who can figure out why gamma radiation causes even Bucky Cap's cyborg arm to Hulk-out too.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

World War Hulks: Captain America vs. Wolverine #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Hulked-out versions of Captain America (James Barnes) and Wolverine drop from the Intelligencia's Helicarrier and begin to battle in the streets of Washington D.C. With his healing factor Logan can gather his thoughts together briefly as the Gamma radiation tries to make him a mindlessly angry killer, like Bucky Cap. Logan recalls a long-buried grudge he has ever since an incident in Chicago years ago....

In Chicago, Logan and a partner named Squee were hunting for a crooked politician named Monte Boscardin who had dropped out of sight. They were following his mistress Abeline, hoping she'd lead them to Boscardin; instead she led them into a trap. When they awoke, Logan was strapped to a table and Squee chained to a wall, forced to watch as Abeline tortured Logan, trying to discover where Monte Boscardin is, refusing to believe they don't know. Logan's sharp sense of smell detected the presence of Bucky Barnes but he dismissed it, knowing Bucky had died at the end of the war. He didn't know about the Winter Soldier....

Synopsis: A Hulked-out Monica Rambeau does not like this. While imagining herself bickering with other members of NextWave, she fights with the equally irradiated War Machine, Ms Marvel, and Thing. Suddenly a huge explosion leaves Thing and Human Torch facing one another on the now desolate battlefield....
