Synopsis / Summary / Plot

All-New Captain America Special #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Story continued from INHUMAN SPECIAL #1

Captain America (Sam Wilson) is drawn toward the city floating high over Manhattan and arrives just in time to catch a plummeting Spider-Man. Cap delivers Spidey to the ledge where the four rookie Inhumans await; Cap is briefed and tasked with devising a plan of attack....

Inside, Medusa is doing battle with Red Raven's minions when Cap, Spidey and the kids join in. Cap takes on the Raven personally, with the villain accusing Sam of being an impostor since he worked alongside the original Captain America during the war. Gorgon, and Triton awaken and begin to fight but Medusa has to warn them not to kill any of their opponents. Sam feels he is not living up to the standard set by Steve Rogers, and so plays to his strengths (he can fly) so he leads Red Raven out into the sky and summons a flock of birds to attack the villains. After Red Raven is subdued, Medusa explains the situation; Cap and Spidey talk to him and persuade him to drop his plans to destroy New Attilan. Problem: the city engines are offline, damaged in the battle, and the city is dropping anyway. Rookies Flint and Iso work together to move the city so that it crashes into the Hudson River and Spidey hails them as heroes....

Later, Medusa visits Red Raven in the hospital and promises that her scientists will find a way to reverse the Terrigen mutation affecting his people. The elderly, powerless Steve Rogers stops by to encourage his former ally. Spidey joins Medusa on the roof where they share a burrito and he tells her about Gwen. The lesson is that we are not the sum of our failures, we have to see who we are. Spidey flirts with her but she tells him she is married and he apologizes. Still, she is happy to talk to someone—and eat a burrito.
