Synopsis

Annihilation: Ronan (2006 series) #2 synopsis by reviewer Rob Johnson
Rating: 4 stars

The Kree ruler the Supreme Intelligence has been replaced by the House Fiyero, and various SI supporters have been banished as 'traitors'. Among them is Ronan The Accuser who's trying to track down the Rigellian Tana Nile who testified against him. But he's unexpectedly abandoned that quest to follow a load of other spaceships heading to the planet Godthab Omega where he found some other Kree exiles including Korath The Pursuer. But they were attacked by Nebula and Stellaris, 2 of the female Graces who are led by Gamora. And this is all taking place as the galaxies are being invaded behind the scenes by the Annihilation Wave.

It's Annihilation Day + 95 and elsewhere on Godthab in the township Abyss the alien cyborg Devos The Devestator is attacking the Skrull Talos. Talos fights back and they are watched by a hooded golden-skinned being who says they are powerful but he needs more power.

Meanwhile Ronan is fighting Stellaris and he uses his Universal Weapon to wreck her armour. Nebula takes up the fight but he uses anti-gravity to send her to the stratosphere and then lets her fall back to the ground. He then helps dig injured Korath out from a collapsed building. K relates how Gamora, the deadliest woman in the universe, came to Godthab after being 'humbled' by the great powers in the universe. She made her base on Mount Virago and gathered together the Graces, all with varying degrees of cosmic awareness, and they started to take over the planet a piece at a time.

On Mount Virago Stellaris is receiving medical treatment but also-damaged Nebula reports to Gamora, and we see that among the Graces is Tana Nile who has recently joined them. The others present are Cerise and a woman who is not named yet. Tana explains about Ronan's trial and presumes that he's here looking for her.

Ronan sets out to confront Gamora but Korath questions exactly why he's doing this rather than seeking Tana Nile to clear his name. We see the golden being with images of the main players before him, and compelling the Accuser to give in to his rage. However Ronan confesses that he doesn't know what made him come to Godthab but he noticed lots more spaceships heading here, and Korath says that many well-known warriors have been seen lately in a place called Abyss. So the Accuser decides to go *there* to investigate. But he gets a call from Tullk who gave him Tana Nile's flightplan last issue. Tullk now says she's been seen in Abyss on Godthab Omega, which of course cements in his current plan. However we see that it is Tana Nile who *told* Tullk to say this.

But we also then see Tullk Ul-Zyn's ship Torricane running into the wreckage of Kree border patrol ships. And then he's attacked by a swarm of insectoid Annihilation Wave warriors, followed by their warships. He transmits a mayday and then a warning direct to Ronan that the swarm is heading in his direction. But the enemy are now inside his vessel.

In Abyss Devos finally defeats Talos but then Ronan confronts him. However he wants to talk and says he thinks it's too much of a coincidence that all these people have been drawn here. He suspects someone is causing this. Devos agree he might be right and says he's heard of an entity ...

... but before he can say more Gamora stabs him through the chest from behind with her sword. Now she and the Accuser meet in battle. And the golden being exults and reveals himself as Glorian who intends to be the new Shaper Of Worlds.

Annihilation: Ronan (2006 series) #2 Review by (June 27, 2026)
The alien cyborg Devos is of unknown origin but he seeks out and destroys warlike species. His previous apps have all involved the Fantastic Four in various issues between #359 and #383, including teaming up with Skrull Paibok, Klaw and Huntara as the Fearsome Foursome.

Talos only previously appeared in Hulk #418-419 where we learned that he was a Skrull born without their shapeshifting power but despite that his prowess in battle earned him the title Talos The Untamed. But then he was defeated and captured by Kree in the latest Kree/Skrull war (ie in the 1988 Silver Surfer series before the Infinity Gauntlet event) and since then has been called Talos The Tamed.

It has not been revealed how Gamora was humbled by cosmic powers, nor how she separated from Adam Warlock and Pip The Troll since She-Hulk #7-8.

The Shi'ar Cerise was a long-term member of the Excalibur team in their series, including a romance with Nightcrawler, until she was taken back to the Shi'ar. She was seen in several other X-related issues, often involving NC, the last being X-Men (1991) #109.

The last Grace is unnamed here and in her 1-panel death scene in #4. But the Marvel Fandom Wiki and Marvel Chronology Project identify her as Spirit (Xira) whose only other apps were Marvel UK's Death Metal #2-4.

Glorian was originally Thomas Gideon, son of the FF's foe in their #34. During FF#134-#137 the fatally ill boy came to the notice of the Shaper Of Worlds (a Skrull Cosmic Cube) who saved him by turning him into Glorian (as revealed in Hulk #267 although G had already shown up in H#190-191) with similar reality-controlling powers. He was last seen with SOW in Avataars: Covenant Of The Shield #2 where they gave someone the ability to create a new planet Eurth. Now G seems to be striking out on his own.

Tullk dies here and Stellaris leaves the series. But she at least will reappear in Guardians Of The Galaxy (2019) #11-12.

This issue ends with Nova Corps files on Gamora, Korath and Tana Nile, containing no extra information.
