Winter Soldier tells Dave about a secret Russian missile silo so they go out there. Dave tries to tell Bucky about the feelings he has of a need to use power to keep himself safe to save everyone else. But then the trap has sprung: they are attacked by the Winter Guard, plus a blazing Red Hulk. Rulk calls Dave a traitor whom he should have killed years ago. Captain Marvel arrives to call Rulk a traitor and they fight. The Minister tells them to keep Red Hulk away from the city….

The heroes stop the rest of the nukes, Invisible Woman containing a nuke over Pittsburg in her force field. Carol and Dave Cap fight Rulk, Bucky comes to warn them that Red Hulk has been made into a bomb to kill Dave. Then he detonates….

In a coma, Dave dreams he is sitting with his mother, telling her how many have died. She encourages him to seek more, to just say the magic word…and he sees a poster about atomic energy, on the window, reading backwards. And he says the magic word…kimota…

…and Dave Colton is the new Miracleman….

Avengers: Armageddon (2026 series) #4 Review by (September 17, 2026)

Review: So that’s where this was all going? To bring back Miracleman? Several pages of cluttered and busy art, largely seeing heroes defeat nukes and then Red Hulk exploding to create a new version of a character little known among Marvelites—even though Marvel has held the rights to the character since 2009, they have never been able to make the character a success. Rights? Oh, Miracleman started out as Captain Marvel—the Shazam guy—in Britain. When a lawsuit killed off Shazam in America in the 1950s, Britain just changed his name to Marvelman and kept churning out new stories. Then in 1982, Alan Moore revived the character and changed the name to Miracleman while creating a darker, more adult version which ran until 1994. Then Marvel bought the rights and her he is again and I’ll bet you didn’t know this isn’t the first time Marvel has revived him. I had forgotten. And now he’s back, this miniseries ends next month and it looks like Dave is going to be shunted into his own book, probably with Spider-Man and/or Wolverine in the first issue to help sell it.

A bunch of routine action clutter, building up to a big surprise. And that’s that. We’ll see if anything happens next time
