The Infernal Hulk stands on the Atlantic shore and claps his hands together, creating a drier path for him to step out into the ocean. He heads for Atlantis…

Meanwhile, Winter Soldier has contacted Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, to warn him that the monster Hulk is coming. But Namor doesn’t care, he sees this as the surface-dwellers’ problem. None of the ocean’s monsters will follow a land creature. And then Hulk arrives, freeing the legendary Ngathil, the God-Eater. Namor commands his soldiers to evacuate the city and protect their people while he faces the monster—who breathes out a mighty blast, knocking Namor away. Hulk arrives to inform Ngathil that the Mother of Horrors is dead and Hulk/Eldest is in power, commanding the giant to recapture the seas, driving the humans back to the land. But Ngathil is unwilling to follow this interloper, insisting the right to rule should go to the strongest, and it smacks Hulk, grabs him and swallows him. Hulk, after fighting off intestinal parasites, punches his way out of the monster’s innards and uses a marble column to spike its jaws closed. Hulk tells it that he intends to make it stronger and commands Ngathil to conquer the oceans. Namor tries to thank Hulk for saving the city but Hulk tells him he and his people are alive because their deaths do not interest Hulk…yet….

A business office is holding a party to celebrate an employee’s birthday. Two attendees, David and Heather, carefully avoid being the subjects of photographs. They are distracted by a TV news report on the sudden appearance of the sea monster but are quickly called back to the party. Heather jokes about David’s bad temper which no one believes but David confirms it with a variation on, “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
