Marvel Team-Up #27 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Story takes place between DEFENDERS #17 and #18. It isn't clear how the Chameleon knew all about Rick Jones' friendship with the Hulk or why he had a Rick mask so handy.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Marvel Team-Up #27 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
The Chameleon impersonates Spider-Man in an attempt to break his pal Joe Cord out of prison, but the guards are too much for him to handle and he makes his getaway. When Peter Parker hears on the radio that "he" was seen at the prison he changes into Spidey and heads over to investigate. Meanwhile the fleeing Chameleon literally runs into the Hulk, who is sent into a rage by the sight of a man with no face. Thinking fast, Chameleon disguises himself as Rick Jones, calms the Hulk and persuades Jade Jaws to release his friend from jail. When Hulk busts in, Spidey tries to stop him but to no avail. Hulk releases Joe Cord and carries him outside to the person he thinks is Rick Jones. Spider-Man unmasks the Chameleon and rescues him from a now enraged Hulk. The police arrive in time to hear Chameleon's confession that he had impersonated Spidey, and Joe Cord is fatally shot protecting his friend, the Chameleon. Hulk hears on the radio that Dr. Strange and Nighthawk are fighting the Wrecking Crew and heads off to help his friends. Spidey likewise takes off.
