Rating: 5 stars

Phil Sheldon bumps into Wolverine who tries to bum a light; Phil turns him down and meets his daughters, Jenny and Beth, at Rockefeller Center for Christmas. They are unaware they are standing by the X-Men, also enjoying the holiday. Suddenly, Sentinels appear, hunting the mutant heroes. Banshee and Storm take action, ascending into the sky to take on their mechanical enemies. Phil gets his daughters to a position where they can watch, almost safely. When the ruckus is over, they see a new hero, Nova, arrive to rescue people trapped in the rooftop restaurant. The girls snap pictures and asks they dad if this is what his job feels like. Recalling all of the things he’s seen, he explains “It’s scary. It’s exciting. It’s thrilling. All of it at once.” They head home, Phil wondering how he’s going to explain to their mom why he let them stay and watch.

Review / Commentaries

Marvels Epilogue #1 Review by (October 5, 2020)

Review: Nice little entry in the series has Phil Sheldon sharing the marvels of his experiences with his daughters for some nice family bonding. It feels like Busiek and Ross haven’t missed a beat since they did the originals a quarter of a century earlier.

Comments: Story takes place during X-MEN (1963 series) #98, shortly after the events of MARVELS #4. There are way too many guest cameos to mention, many of which were in the original X-MEN issue.
