The school bullies have Tony Stark and James Rhodes trapped in the furnace room at school; they take the controls away from Tony which makes the prototype armor Rhodey is wearing useless. Tony releases his metal flies to swarm around Rhodey as the others push Tony’s feet into the furnace. The flies activate the armor and Rhodey is able to zap the punk holding him down and then shock the others to get them away from Tony. Then a girl named Nifara walks in and, shocked, pulls Tony out of the furnace, his feet and legs severely burned. Rhodey calls Tony’s dad who tells him to get Tony food and water. Rhodey orders the bullies to get food and water. Nifaria gives Tony some water while he has the suit disassemble, revealing a spray can which he tells Rhodey to use on his severely damaged legs. The bullies return with sandwiches from the cafeteria, claiming a guy told them Tony couldn’t burn and gave them $100 each to teach Tony a lesson, claiming he worked for Tony’s Dad. Tony orders the idiots to leave and while waiting for his father to arrive, drinks water and discusses how he can make the armor more comfortable. He reveals to Rhodey and Nifara that he is in constant pain. Then Howard arrives with two doctors who discover the skin on Tony’s legs is regenerating. Tony insists on walking out, noting he can do so wearing the armor suit. The school’s dean arrives and Howard chews him out, assuring him he won’t press charges against the school or the bullies. Rhodey and Nifara accompany Tony home, telling Howard that the bullies were paid to attack Tony….

…so they arrive at the Baxter Building, a school for geniuses disguised as an ordinary office building. They enter by speaking to the homeless man outside then the custodians. They enter an elevator where they find Obadiah Stane, who greets Tony and Howard with a great deal of sarcasm. He picks a piece of lint from Howard’s suit and leaves to talk to some smaller kids. Rhodey and Nifara inform Howard that Obadiah took a hair, not lint, from his jacket.

So Link jumps off and falls to his death. Obadiah then drops Dodge as he wants no witnesses. He tells security the two kids had a suicide pact and he tried to stop them. Howard regrets sending him to the school….
At home, Tony dons his experimental armor, certain he could have saved those kids had he been wearing it. Howard questions that, also wondering what Obadiah is planning to do with his stolen hair. Tony vows to protect his father. And if he can’t, he will kill Obadiah….
