Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Vote Loki #4 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

As Loki’s Presidential run grows ever more popular, reporter Nisa Contreras grows ever more despondent—especially when she discovers her mother is a Loki supporter. On live television, a fellow who can turn into a bomb tries to assassinate Loki but Angela hurls the man into the sky where he explodes harmlessly (to others, at least)….

Angela invites Nisa to a secret meeting to reveal some information. She shows up in a deserted home to find Thor (Jane Foster) there too; Nisa learns that Angela is opposed to a Loki presidency and has been infiltrating his organization to work against him. The house they are in was a Hydra meeting place and their computers reveal that the cell’s leader was Loki, in disguise as “Lucas” (see issue #1). Nisa publishes this expose and riots break out between Loki’s supporters and opponents, dismaying the God of Stories….

Just before the election, Congress hurriedly passes legislation curtailing the powers of the Presidency and the stock market falls in anticipation of a Loki victory. Loki stops by to talk to Nisa, confessing that he didn’t mean to cause chaos and offers to calm the nation by speaking the truth. He teleports Nisa to a rally of his supporters and offers to answer any question she asks truthfully. Nisa refuses to play his game, suggesting instead that he let his supporters ask the questions. A question about health care elicits an argument between two supporters on opposite sides of that issue. But Loki doesn’t have a position on that crucial issue, in fact, he reveals he has no positions on any of the issues and his implication that he wants to represent all Americans fails to comfort his supporters who want him to fight the half of the country they don’t like. One of them sums it up as “You lied to us: you said you were different!”

Loki loses the election, Nisa becomes a hero, Loki visits her to suggest that he had managed the entire course of her life and a Presidential campaign as an apology for wrecking her neighborhood when she was a kid. He then leaves and phones his concession to the winner….
