Wiccan and Hulkling: Raid of Ultron (2026 series) #1

This story follows on from the Imperial event (where Hulkling & Wiccan lost control of the Kree/Skrull Alliance) and the Wiccan: Witches' Road mini-series (where Wiccan got his Demiurge powers back, and a new costume and Baba Yaga's hut on chicken legs for the duo to live in).

Now it's the 1 year anniversary of their wedding and Teddy Altman and Billy Kaplan are preparing to host a family gathering. They've done the house up to their taste and Baba Yaga's not-so-Mindless One servant Sluga has been happy to continue in service. He detects an approaching disturbance but Billy suggests it's just the guests, who now make their entrance.

Speed (Tommy Shepherd) asks Sluga if he bears a grudge about the way he left him on top of Mount Everest (WWR#4). The MO says no and Tommy offers to explain the family connections to him. He and Billy are sort-of sons of Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) (actually reincarnations of her magically created children). She's now Sorcerer Supreme and her ex-husband the android Vision was their 'dad'. They split up but are now friends. The anxious-looking girl is Vision's android 'daughter' Viv. The girl talking to Teddy is Phyla-Vell and they're both children of Mar-Vell the original Captain Marvel, but from different universes. He doesn't get around to mentioning Quicksilver (Wanda's brother Pietro) and Moondragon (Phyla's girlfriend) because ...

... the party is crashed by the robot Ultron, Vision's creator/father. Sluga says *this* was the approaching disturbance he mentioned. And in fact it's 6 (or more?) Ultrons. Scarlet Witch comments that she'd heard about the robot splitting into multiple versions (in the 2024 West Coast Avengers mini-series). The leader says they're here for Vision and Viv in order to integrate them into his intelligence model. The heroes decline to comply. Wiccan & Witch create 4 portals through which 4 pairs of heroes travel, leaving Moondragon and Sluga to defend the house. 4 Ultrons follow them though.

The brothers Billy and Tommy arrive in a grocery store which Wiccan says is actually the set for a TV reality show Grocery Gauntlet that he and Teddy watch, which is currently off air. The wellness app on Billy's wrist warns him of a high stress level, which Tommy adds to the list of bad sides of marriage he's spouting - it's even worse that Teddy got it for him as a Valentine's gift. As they search for Ultron Tommy speed reads trashy mags and starts to offer relationship advice from them, and eats snacks because moving fast requires energy. Then Ultron communicates via the app and they are attacked by a horde of drones. Ultron joins them and joins in the slagging of Billy's marriage, but Tommy rallies to his brother's defence. Billy's wellness watch starts burning so Tommy pours a bottle of water over it while Ultron claims that emotional attachments cause exploitable weaknesses. But Speed wraps cables around the villain and Wiccan sends magic energy down them which causes the robot to explode. Tommy thinks that while they're here in Hollywood they should use his speed to take in some sights, but Billy wants to get back to Teddy and the others.

Meanwhile Teddy has landed in a ruined castle where he's attacked by a caped Ultron. Hulkling has his large magic sword Excelsior but the robot blasts it out of his hand and generates his own energy sword to strike with. But Phyla appears and parries the blow with Excelsior which she then gives back to Hulkling and manifests her own Quantum Sword. So Ultron generates a 2nd sword and a multiple sword fight commences during which Phyla takes time to mentally check in with Moondragon who it seems has defeated any left-behind Ultrons and is now mentally repairing any damage to house and contents. Insulted Ultron redoubles his efforts but Phyla sends him flying. The robot keeps returning and keeps being repulsed by the heroes. But while it's away Teddy seeks relationship advice from his 'sister'. Billy is the Demiurge and he (with Tommy) is part of Wanda's council (in her Sorcerer Supreme series), but since losing rule of the Alliance Teddy's at a loose end and thinks life may be becoming boring. As they finally cut their Utron in 2 Phyla suggests Teddy talk to Billy about it all.

Vision and Viv have found themselves in Dr Strange's (now Wanda's) Sanctum Sanctorum. Viz asks his daughter why she came alone to the party? Has she no companion? Viv doesn't want to answer and is saved by the arrival of an Ultron in casual clothes and drinking a can of Roxxon beer. He's also brought someone for Viv to interact with, female teen Ultronica who's heard that Viv has a human girlfriend. As Vision fights Ultron in the background Viv is more concerned that Ultronica's attacks might damage some of the Sanctum's magic artefacts. During a lull Viv tells her dad she *does* have a companion but she didn't ask her to the party because she wasn't sure how Vizh would react. Ultron offers parenting advice before attacking again. Viv phases through Ultronica and leads her with taunts on a chase round the house until pausing to allow the robotte to fire a big gun at her. She goes insubstantial again to let the shot pass through and ricochet off things to finally end up destroying both robots. Vision suggests they pick up Viv's friend on the way back to the party, but Viv suggests inviting her to a game night 1st. But on the way back she tells him about her.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have obviously been fighting their Ultron too but it's not done yet. Then the other 3 pairs arrive and they all combine to destroy it. They return to the house to find Moondragon finishing off another Ultron (editorial miscommunication here?) and Sluga sweeping up debris. And the party continues.
