Synopsis

Wolverine/Captain America #4 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3 stars

Warbird is hooked up to a series of machines aboard the SHIELD Helicarrier, hoping that the energy signature from her Shi’ar-derived powers can help them track the stolen Shi’ar microchip (this was her idea). The plan succeeds and they get a fix on the chip; Warbird explains that all it took was the will to succeed. As the heroes plan to go after The Contingency, Captain America and Wolverine clash over the former’s commitment to justice and the latter’s desire for revenge against the enemy leader Rapture. Sharon Carter steps in to send them on their way and they vow to recover the chip but also to uncover who is responsible for arming them with weaponry specifically designed to take out Wolverine….

Meanwhile at the New York docks, Rapture and The Contingency are meeting with their clients, representatives of A.I.M. They mercenaries double-cross the criminal organization and a firefight breaks out. Cap, Wolverine, and Warbird materialize in the center of the trouble and end up fighting everyone. After The Contingency and A.I.M are mopped up, it is noticed that Wolverine and Rapture are missing. The two enemies are facing one another on a rooftop for possession of the chip. The two fight but Logan is at a disadvantage against the psychic Rapture who can anticipate his every move. By concentrating on the words "It’s over," Wolverine is able to surprise her, stabbing her with his claws; she tumbles off the roof and into the river. When Cap arrives, Logan shows him the chip, but Warbird can’t find Rapture anywhere….

Back at the Xavier Institute, Wolverine briefs Professor X and the others: Warbird was able to drain energy from the mutated microchip. Logan’s big worry is The Contingency and why they had weapons that were designed to be used against him….

In the SHIELD detention center, Rapture suddenly appears in the midst of her captured comrades to tell them that through mysterious circumstances (probably involving the Shi’ar chip) her exo-suit’s abilities were fused to her central nervous system. She announces she must leave but promises to rescue them soon so they can take their revenge….

At SHIELD Headquarters, Cap confronts Sharon, having figured out that The Contingency was a SHIELD team trained to take out mutants—and that Sharon was in charge of them. She insists it was only a contingency plan in case they need to go after evil mutants but Cap won’t listen; he tells her that if he hears that Project: Contingency has been revived he will do everything in his power to bring SHIELD down….
