Avengers Vs X-Men Infinite Comic (2012 series) #10

This issue begins with a scene of Avengers returning to K'un-Lun from Limbo after rescuing some of their number imprisoned there. (The same scene in Avengers Vs X-Men #9 includes Beast carrying Thor.)

But the main scene of the issue involves Beast, Iron Man and Scarlet Witch in K'un-Lun trying to figure out a way to win the war against the 5 X-Men with Phoenix power. Hank McCoy and Tony Stark have cooked up a helmet to harness Wanda Maximoff's probability magic to emulate the Mad Thinker in determining a foolproof plan. When Hank switches it on it projects a view of what's on her mind, which is currently the X-Men's enPhoenixed leader Cyclops and her long-time love/friend the Vision. She's not too happy about it reading her mind and displaying her private thoughts.

But then Hank turns on its 2nd function which is to upload into her subconscious all the data he's assembled about the combatants on both sides and the K'un-Lun site of the unavoidable battle. Tony then asks Wanda to cast 1 of her probability hexes on herself to sort through all possible futures to find those where the Avengers won. She reluctantly agrees to do it.

The 2 men see projections of multiple scenarios but most end in very quick defeat. The choices diminish until only 3 remain with single heroes left facing Cyclops:- Iron Man, Thor or Wolverine. In scenario 1 IM falls fairly easily to Cyclops' enhanced eye-blasts. In the 2nd case Thor hurls Mjolnir but Cyclops sends it back at him. Thor catches it easily but then is defeated by repeated blows from the foe's Phoenix-powered fists. The 3rd option sees Wolverine seemingly blasted by Cyke. But he recovers and they have an extended mano-a-mano fight. But in the end it is Logan who dies.

Our 3 heroes are now faced with the seeming truth that their future is hopeless. At which point Hope Summers pops in. She's been left in training while the Avengers went on the rescue mission, and she wonders if they've all forgotten about her. Wanda realises that Hope hadn't been included in the data. And now the failing scenarios fade. Tony doesn't know why but Hope seems to be the answer.
