This part is mainly Colossus/Juggernaut vs Thing. But it starts off with a Colossus & Red Hulk rematch (they previously fought in Uncanny X-Men #11 within AvX#2). They exchange blows and headbutts until Rulk sends Peter Rasputin flying to land at the feet of Thing who pounds him into the ground. But Colossus shrugs it off and gets up to bury Ben Grimm under a huge chunk of masonry. But of course Ben gets up too and it's mutual Clobberin' Time, until Thing throws a 'brick' into Peter's mouth causing him to choke. Then he attacks but Peter now stops suppressing the Juggernaut side that Cyttorak has given him. Enraged he pushes Thing out of the Blue Area into the airless rest of the Moon. Ben is gasping for breath but even when he knocks Juggernaut's helmet off Rasputin remains unstoppable. Colossus wins the match but feels that he lost the fight against his demon.

Synopsis

By Rob Johnson
Rating: 3.5 stars
This is Black Widow vs Magik. Natalia Romanova (the version of her name they go with here) fires Widow's Bites from her wrist gauntlets which Peter Rasputin's sister Illyana avoids by  dropping through 1 of her stepping discs and then popping up behind her. They then fight physically which Magik seems to treat as a game, but BW reminds her that the Phoenix Force is a serious threat to the Earth. Magik conjures another stepping disc and demons pull Nat down into Limbo, but she uses her Widow's Line to drag her opponent after her. They continue the fight as demons surround them and Illyana reminds Nat that their past deeds mean that this is where they both belong. Widow pulls out 2 guns and starts shooting demons, claiming that this is nothing compared to the Red Room (where she was trained as a child to be an assassin). Then she closes in to give the sorceress a bloody nose and bruised face, puts a gun to her forehead to persuade her to take them back to the Moon. Illyana complies but then manifests her Soulsword and stabs BW with it. Luckily it's not *lethal* to non-magical beings, and she tells the semi-conscious woman that if she *hadn't* treated the fight as a game she would have killed her. And then she sees the Phoenix Force in the sky send 5 bolts of energy arcing down to the Moon (and they will strike at the end of AvX#5).

AvX: Vs (2012 series) #3 Review by (January 3, 2026)
On the X-Men's side this is an all-Rasputin show.

Colossus took on the power of Juggernaut in Uncanny X-Men # 542 during Fear Itself to prevent his sister Illyana having to take it.

In story 2 the chars often converse in Russian, which could be translated by the Marvel AR app.
