Is the Granopy here the same as the 1 on Planet X in Groot (2023), set in the early days of Marvel Comics? It was in an area of Kree space that was devastated by the Spoilers led by a rogue Flora Colossus named Agz. This could possibly be the area mentioned by the Kree here. Groot doesn't recognise it as his homeworld here, but then he says he's "remembering something he didn't know he'd forgotten".

Who died in the Guardians besides Moondragon? Possibly Blackjack O'Hare, Prince Otherone, Phyla-Vell and 2 Quasars, but probably not Hercules, Noh-Varr and Nova. (Unless of course they're they're all going to be resurrected anyway.)

Next issue the Guardians are supposed dead so Hulkling and Wiccan lead their Kree/Skrull Alliance against Grootfall. The covers shows symbolic headstones for 5 of the Guardians but Hulkling appears to be carrying the intact body of Peter Quill.

Guardians Of The Galaxy #6 Synopsis by Rob Johnson

Last issue the Guardians Of The Galaxy (Drax The Destroyer, Gamora, Mantis, Nebula, Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord) faced a bunch of Grootfall asteroids attacking Torment Pass in the Manifold Territories. They flew their ship into the mouth of 1 of them hoping to get the attention of the Groot they hoped was inside.

Now they think they're dead but they find themselves in a strange wasteland. Nebula picks a flower which takes her back to the day Peter Quill invited her to join the Guardians in their Proscenium base. The others were suspicious of her but she told him she could use the data gathered by this station to detect problems before they got too big. Straightaway she identified a star system in an area of space that the Kree designated worthless. Now she blames herself for raising this threat and condemning the team.

Rocket picks a flower and experiences running alongside Groot who volunteered for the mission so of course Rocket went with his best friend. As soon as they got to the system Groot became aware of something very old which he called the Branch Worlds. They approached a dead planet and landed. Groot kept repeating "I am Groot" as usual but in this case he meant "She's dying". They found an ancient tree that said "I am Granopy" and Rocket remembers that she was the 1st of Groot's species of sentient trees. She reached out a tendril and transformed Groot. Another tendril took Rocket's left eye. He now blames himself for leaving instead of putting his friend out of the misery that he had become.

Gamora picks a flower and blames herself for reacting to Rocket's transmitted warning by sending the rest of the team to fight Groot - sending them to their deaths.

Drax picks a flower and blames himself for deciding not to go. And his sort-of daughter Moondragon died with the rest.

Mantis picks a flower and remembers that after her son Sequioa tried to conquer the Galaxy for plant life (in the Empyre event) she left the Guardians (presumably waiting until the end of the last series) and became a singer fronting a band (and possibly the multiple personality she is now). So she wasn't there to die with her friends and blames herself for that.

Star-Lord's flower reminds him of how he led the remaining Guardians in the (mobile) Proscenium to stop Groot before he reaches the Manifold Territories. Proscenium was sacrificed to no avail but the GOTG escaped in a spaceship. And so *he* blames himself.

Now the 6 join hands in a circle and include a flower. Out in space the collection of flaming Grootfall asteroids crumbles, and out of the ashes emerges another asteroid which looks like Star-Lord's masked head.
