Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Hercules: Heart of Chaos #3 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Their Floater having been blown up by a missile, Hercules and Agent Alex DePaul plummet though the air. Herc seizes him and tries to aim so that they reach the Helicarrier. Ares sends minions to look for Hercules’ corpse, supervises the construction of his superweapon, the Gabriel Horn, and has his Warhawks search the ship for any SHIELD Agents unaccounted for…

Herc, with DePaul in tow, manages to nab a remote corner of the Helicarrier and halt their plunge; they enter the ship through a hole Herc tears in the bulkhead and DePaul heads for the communications room to send for help, while Hercules goes in search of Ares….

Elsewhere, Agent 33/Kara Palamas goes online to try to identify the traitor in the ranks; DePaul, the traitor, finds her and starts shooting. Shortly thereafter Agent 72/John Farrat catches him and there is more shooting….

Meanwhile, Herc is facing a Dog of War in Mandroid armor; Herc smashes it through the gym wall and into the showers. More Warhawks arrive and open fire; Herc, weakened by his wounds, hurls an electric line and fries the bad guys. He passes out and is captured by Ares…

…waking up chained to a jet’s wheels. Ares shows him the Gabriel Horn, a sonic cannon he will use to cause the structural breakdown of all metal on the planet. Earth will be returned to a feudal state, easily controlled by Ares. DePaul arrives and Herc is startled to find he is the traitor; DePaul defends Ares’ scheme. Herc breaks free, sweeps the underlings aside with a swipe of his arms and pursues Ares, who flees into the ship. DePaul shoots at Herc but Kara arrives and fights him. Herc catches up with Ares who gloats that he has led Hercules far from the control room where he could stop the countdown of the Gabriel Horn. So Herc devises an alternate scheme: he throws Ares into the barrel of the giant weapon, causing a chain reaction. Herc throws the weapon overboard and it explodes, the shock wave also causing DePaul to fall on his sword….

A few weeks later, at the Museum of Greek Antiquities, the new curator hired by Hercules, John Farrat, has the place running again, while Herc and Kara ponder his future….
