A vision of Hulk destroying the world….
Nikoleta Harrow recalls her early history. Known as Project:
Miru, she was created by A.I.M. to be the perfect assassin, the mix of DNA of
Dr. Jonas Harrow and his wife Gail, but she would not be controlled. A.I.M.
head MODOK quarreled via viewscreen with Doctor Midas who was paying for a
deadly agent; Doctor Doom sat in on the meeting, partner to Midas. Midas told
MODOK to destroy Nikoleta and they would take their business elsewhere. Then
Nikoleta escaped from her cell, killed everyone in the lab, and fled….
And now Nikoleta Harrow watches in satisfaction as the giant,
mad Hulk destroys the forces A.I.M. has sent against her. As it now obeys her
commands, she sees no need for Doctor Mantlo and kills him. She calls him off
the attack and takes him away….
Meanwhile, Bruce Banner is trapped in a fever dream: Here, he
managed to make it into the ditch with Rick Jones so he was never the Hulk. But
exposure to a lower level of radiation gave him improved health, so on
government orders, he and his wife Betty were kept prisoners in a house
surrounded by high walls and high security on a military base. Brooding over
his complicity in creating a weapon responsible for the deaths of multitudes, after
Betty’s death from gamma poisoning, he tried to escape and, again on government
orders, he was shot down by guards….
This hallucination triggers Hulk’s transformation back into
Bruce Banner and he regains his lost memories. He is in a craft with Nikoleta
Harrow and she shows him where they are going: the desert base where Hulk was
created….
