Reaching
another alternate universe, Photon arrives at the Ravencroft Interreality
Project, headed by Dr. Yesenia Rosarion and her assistant Karla Sofen, who are
scientists not villains in this world. They explain that the project studies
reality and now there’s the Rambeau Event, a threat to all reality and it
centers on Monica. No one else can help as only Monica can examine what is
going on inside her head. But Monica knows the Stone of Hala is the key and she
intends to take it and return to the ship of the Charos. Karla tries to stop
her, using Moonstone’s powers she has picked up from some unauthorized research
into a parallel world. Yesenia turns into Hinge (more unauthorized research) to
stop her. Monica nabs the Stone, Moonstone confronts her, Monica takes her down
with infrared power, and departs…
…to space where she finds the Charos ship is
gone, a subneural missive left for her. They did some research and found that
the problem cannot be the Stone of Hala but must be…Monica kicks the message
device and sets off an explosion of frustration. She curls up to cry over how
she has never had the time to just relax, there has always been something more
to do. She teleports home to find another version of her cousin Caleb who
scolds her about sitting on the furniture in her “outside” clothes so she
instantaneously dons a sweat suit and relaxes. This Caleb is more mature than
the one she is used to so she shares her problems with him and, like everyone
else, he advises her to find out what she wants. But when Caleb’s twin
daughters walk in and they are much older than they were only a few minutes
earlier, Monica panics and calls out to the Beyonder. When they answer, she
asks what they meant when they said they were drawn there by Monica. So
Beyonder takes her to a couch in space and explains about energy creating a
peephole between their worlds…but for Monica that’s Molecule Man but Beyonder
shows her her mother drilling into her the idea that she must never quit, never
give anyone reason to doubt her—until Monica’s powers took over. But
Monica just wants to know what she really desires. So Beyonder takes her to
board Starfox’s ship out in space….
