On his home
planet, Omega the Unknown is on the run from robot assassins only this time the
robots are joined by Nick and Tank, two tough guys from school, and the victims
of the massacre are James-Michael Starling’s friends: Ruth, Amber, Dian, and
others…
…and again,
James-Michael wakes up from a nightmare. Ruth Hart comes in to check on him.
Finding he’s okay, she makes a sarcastic comment which JM calls her on and she
resents his reaction. Unable to get back to sleep, James-Michael dresses and
goes out, awakening the homeless man sleeping in the building’s foyer. The man
tries to get some money from him but JM refuses, accidentally knocking the old
man down. The old man mentions a son who died in Vietnam and the guilty JM
gives him some change….
At Rudy’s Bar
and Grill, Gramps has taken the silent Omega out to sit with some friends
including Mamie. They persuade Omega (or “Sam” as they call him) to try a drink
and Omega feels like his head is bursting with lights. Omega and Gramps
accompany Mamie home but soon hear a scream from her apartment. Omega leaps
through her second story window but his reactions are off due to the alcohol he
drank so a burly man in overalls clouts him with a wrench and escapes through
the skylight. Gramps and the police enter through the door to find Mamie dead,
bludgeoned in the head, and Omega pursuing the killer to the roof….
Elsewhere,
James-Michael comes upon a pimp slapping one of his girls and tries to
intervene and is surprised when the woman tells him to mind his own business.
He spots Amber Grant out on a date with man named Dennis and follows them. When
Amber gets home, she learns from Ruth that James-Michael is missing and heads
out to find him. She walks past a big brute named Kurt Klemmer and gets a
chill. The comic follows Klemmer home, revealing his mother was recently killed
by a mugger and he now has headaches which compel him to “fix” his mother’s
suffering with his tools. Omega catches up to him….
James-Michael
is playing pinball with another kid watching who accuses JM of cheating and
calls over his pals to teach him a lesson. Amber arrives and takes JM away. In
a deserted area near a construction site, Klemmer attacks them with a wrench
(specifically a monkey wrench) but Omega drops from above, landing on the bad
guy. Klemmer draws a revolver and shoots the hero. Amber snaps some pictures
then attacks the baddie with an awkward karate move. Klemmer slaps her to the
ground and prepares to bash her with the wrench when, desperate to help his
friend, James-Michael forces himself to overcome the paralysis that struck him
when Omega was shot. He points his hands at Klemmer and blasts him with energy
bolts like Omega’s, collapsing when he realizes what he has done….
