Po’s Story

Synopsis

Wolverine/Hulk (2002 series) #3 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

By the dried up lake bed, Bruce Banner relates Po’s story. While he was working on the gamma bomb, technician Hank and his wife Lois were Bruce’s only friends. They asked him to be godfather to their child, Po. Bruce and the little girl grew close. As they talked about science, Po became obsessed with death. Then one day Hank took his daughter for a flight in his vintage biplane and they never returned. A few weeks later came the explosion that changed Bruce Banner’s life forever. Po takes over the story relating how Bruce couldn’t get over the loss of Po and Hank. Bruce talks about how with all the losses in his life he no longer feels anything, not even for Po, who may still be alive in some sort of limbo state. Bruce explains the strap Po talks about is the plane’s seatbelt, connected to a parachute. When opened they would be pulled to safety but she must have forgotten. Logan notes that it’s been twenty years since the crash but Bruce can’t admit that Hank and Po are really dead, though Logan is skeptical. They are approached by a polar bear cub; Logan picks it up and cuddles it then the mother bear arrives and Logan is in another fight with a creature four times his size. Banner turns into Hulk and chases the bears away by leaping at them, landing on Logan’s hand. Po recalls them to the main issue and at the bottom of the lake bed she indicates where her father needs his strap pulled to rescue him….
