Black Widow #11 Review by (December 21, 2021)

Review: Another story arc begins, despite the title claiming it’s part one of one, and it’s off to a good start by introducing a rather unusual set of new characters, the Twins, Liv and Lars. And Lucy and Anya are quite likable and work well together. Everything is ideal so far.

Comments: First mention of Lucy’s surname: Nguyen. First appearance of the Twins, Liv and Lars.

Black Widow #11 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

At the Web, White Widow oversees the training of Spider-Girl and Lucy, mainly trying to get a clear understanding of the latter’s new powers. Black Widow is leaving and Yelena is miffed that Nat seems to be keeping secrets from her. Nat says she’s just going to meet a source….

Natasha visits Maxi, a clockmaker with a side business. He hands her an envelope containing a mysterious something she asked for. She also brings up Apogee, asking for more information. Maxi directs her to the Twins, performers in an upscale circus. And then she reluctantly brings up another request: whether Maxi can locate James and Stevie, her husband and son, whom she never wanted to find, for their own safety….

Nat returns to the Web and tells Yelena to dress formally; Lucy and Anya are reminded that the two Widows live a different sort of life than they do….

Natasha and Yelena arrive at the Cirkusen and locate the Twins, who turn out to be Liv, an extremely muscular woman, and Lars, a very thin man. Nat briefly mentions Apogee when the Twins attack them. As Nat grapples with Liv and Yelena has a knife duel with Lars, Nat discovers that the two share mass: as Liv slims down, Lars bulks up. When it goes back the other way, Nat tells Yelena to knock out slim Lars and the two of them fight beefy Liv, who bulks up so far that it nearly kills Lars. The fight ends with the Twins claiming no animosity just a desire to try fighting with some of the best. The Twins tell the Widows about the Golden Gate Gala, an upcoming event which is the cover for illegal activity. And Apogee is involved but not by choice. After the Widows leave, the Twins call a mysterious figure and tell him/her/them to expect a visit….
