The Requiem Plain Part Three

Synopsis

Incredible Hulk (2023 series) #30 synopsis by reviewer Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4.5 stars

On the Requiem Plan, Hulk battles the Eldest, occupying the skin of the Abomination, demanding Hulk’s flesh for her use. There is a brutal fight for several pages, ending with Hulk trying to tear Eldest’s head off…but Abomination quickly turns, reaches a hand into Hulk’s body and tears Bruce Banner out. The two look at one another and Hulk whispers, “You were right about the kid. Tell her…I’m sorry.” Then Eldest enters Hulk’s body and goes to the Green Door, rips it open and searches for the Mother of Horrors. Eldest/Hulk finds her a giant desiccated creature. Realizing her Mother is dead, Eldest tears her open and feeds on the purple ichor that oozes out. Then she punches her way back out as the Hulk, bigger and stronger than ever….

Story continued in THE INFERNAL HULK #1.

Incredible Hulk (2023 series) #30 Review by (October 15, 2025)

Review: The issue is one big fight scene—and Hulk loses. It is brutal and violent with the requisite amount of body horror. It also marks the biggest change to the status quo in Hulk’s history, bigger even than Joe Fixit or Professor Hulk. The oddity is that it comes at the same time as a similar shakeup in Thor’s title. Wonder if the two are going to fight? Unlikely, as Thor has no powers but one can wonder. And things are switched up in Captain America’s new title, flashing back to Cap’s time just out of the ice. Looks like Marvel is shaking everything up in another bid for popularity. In the meantime, Nic Klein caps off the series with his deftly gruesome imagery and the next part is on its way.

Comments: Final issue of the series; the story resumes in THE INFERNAL HULK. Story concludes with a text article by the Eldest on Bruce Banner and her plans now that she occupies Hulk’s body.
