Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Marvel 1985 #4 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

1985: The Lizard has dropped upon the truck driven by Jerry Goodman and the villain tears through the roof trying to grab Toby. Dad crashes through a billboard, knocking Lizard off but also wrecking the truck. Toby and Dad run for it but Lizard seizes Toby and taunts Jerry, daring him to fight for his son…but Jerry can’t. Soldiers arrive and shoot the Lizard who gets away….

1984: The Wyncham home is surrounded by half the people from town. Mrs. Wyncham accuses Jerry of having some sort of mutant power to bring them; Jerry denies it. Clyde recognizes the leader of the group as his recently deceased father; Mrs. W. threatens to kill Jerry….

1985: Jerry tries to tell the National Guard that the enemy are comic book villains but no one listens. Then he learns that his ex, Toby’s mom Julie, has refused to leave her home until Toby comes, so Jerry rushes to the rescue. Toby tries to gather the other comic book fans to fight the villains but no one wants to put themselves in danger so Toby goes out himself. Blob, Molten Man, Sauron, Hate-Monger, Wendigo, Mandarin, Abomination, and Bullseye are terrorizing the town. Toby goes to the Wyncham house where he finds Sandman and the Absorbing Man, with Melter using his nasty powers to melt a soldier. Toby sneaks into the house and down to the basement where he finds a huge double door with “Private” painted on it. He opens the doors and finds a glow—then he is caught by the Trapster who shoots at him; Toby jumps and falls through space until he lands on a New York street in the Marvel Universe and asks someone to call the Avengers….
