Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Marvel Two-In-One #42 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
An enraged Thing comes bursting through the walls of the secret Project Pegasus facility in upstate New York. Plowing though the guards, Ben comes face to face with Captain America who manages to dodge his powerful opponent until he can throw a switch sealing Thing inside a bubble-like force field. Once Ben has calmed down Cap releases him. Cap gives Ben a tour explaining that the purpose of the top-secret project is to explore alternate sources of energy; Cap is there by request of Nick Fury to look after some security problems. While there, Ben spots Dr. Thomas Lightner (the villain from MTIO #21) and his suspicions are aroused. Ben’s purpose there is that he learned that Wundarr, the superpowerful yet childlike alien who considers Ben his protector, is being used as a guinea pig for weird experiments. Cap is uncomfortable too, but assures Ben they have promised to cure Wundarr’s stunted mental growth as he helps them unlock the secrets of the Cosmic Cube. When they bring Wundarr into the exam room, he bursts his bonds and it takes Ben’s comfort and assurance to calm the boy down. Wundarr’s mental energy is used to power the Cube for the scientists but Lightner sabotages the project causing an energy feedback to injure the boy. Cap pursues the villain, who seizes the Cube and teleports himself to the Florida Everglades. There he joins the cult of the Entropists and unmasks himself as the sinister Victorius. Back at Pegasus, Wundarr is taken to the infirmary and Ben vows to get the creep who hurt Wundy. Cap takes him to a jet with a high-energy tracer that can track the Cosmic Cube. Arriving shortly thereafter in Florida, a brief search brings the heroes face-to-face with Victorius, announcing a new order for the universe, with his ally the Entropic Man. Ben’s reaction: "Wotta revoltin’ development this is."
