With the Avengers acknowledging Doctor Doom as ruler, Doom
explains his plan to Hawkeye: reclaim New York for the humans and control the
plague, showing the world that they should not give up hope. So Manhattan is
sealed off by a containment field, Deadpool leads the effort to clean up
bodies, Avengers give everyone a Doomstone which stabilizes the uninfected but
erases the minds of the infected, rendering them helpless. They search the city
for survivors and bring them to the safety camp at Javitz Center where everyone
is closely monitored.
Thor confides in Hawkeye that he still doesn’t trust Doom and
destroys his Doomstone; when Hawkeye rebukes him, Thor decides to leave the
planet and speeds off into the sky….
The Avengers continue fighting bands of cannibals and forcing
the Doomstone on the survivors. Iron Man contacts Reed Richards and Black Panther
who explain they know everything about the plague except how to cure it; Tony
has sent them a Doomstone for study. Then word comes that She-Hulk has turned
and is leading a slaughter at the Javitz Center. Hawkeye goes to confront Doom
and discovers that he was able to improve the Doomstone, his test subject Daken
no longer mindless but a childlike innocent….
The Avengers meet for a discussion but come to no conclusions
on any question. Hawkeye then sees Deadpool dragging a blood-soaked bag to
Doom’s headquarters and sneaks in to see Doom is a cannibal, feasting on the
corpse of Mystique….
