Synopsis

Mighty Avengers, The (2007 series) #12 synopsis by Julio M2
Rating: 4 stars
After the events of the Secret War, Nick Fury goes into hiding, but first apologizes to the heroes for his betrayal through his Life Model Decoy (gutted by a furious Wolverine). While in Mexico, Nick is visited by his long-time lover, (suspended) S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, disguised as a sexy blond. But he soon discovers that the beautiful woman he just spent a romantic night with, is really a covert Skrull agent; shots her dead in the head. Realizing that there are more Skrulls posing as humans (reporting to a Queen), who are after S.H.I.E.L.D. secrets, Nick infiltrates S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier to wake up Director Maria Hill and warn her about the threat, advising her to use new design Life Model Decoys in her place. Nick escapes the ship as easily as he got in. Months later, Fury contacts Jessica Drew A.K.A. Spider Woman, and asks her to return to S.H.I.E.L.D. to be his informant about any Skrull infiltration in that agency. Finally, he begins to devise a ready plan for when the Skrulls attack en masse.

Review / Commentaries

Mighty Avengers, The (2007 series) #12 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Artist Alex Maleev’s heavy use of photographic reference works well. His Nick Fury sometimes resembles actor …, who played Dracula in the Marvel’s Blade 3 film, and has the role of older brother in the … TV show. I ignore the name of the model he used for Jessica Drew, but she was a fine choice.

The Nick Fury’s LMD was undetected by Wolverine’s senses.

The Skrulls speak using the Tligi dialect of the Skrull language.

Helicarrier is the floating world headquarters of the U.N. peacekeeping task force S.H.I.E.L.D.
