The Avengers Vs X-Men event is over and the 5 Phoenix-powered X-Men have lost that power.

1 of them Emma Frost is being escorted to prison in an armoured truck with Daredevil and Luke Cage in the back to guard her. DD has a shoulder-injury and Luke asks him how he likes being an Avenger (he joined officially in #16 but only became actively involved from #19). Matt Murdock responds by asking how he manages to raise his baby daughter Danielle with Jessica Jones in all this. Luke doesn't tell him that Jess left with the child (#21) because of the danger, but says he has a decision to make. Frost interrupts this tete-a-tete to says that the Phoenix-5 were only trying to make the world a better place, and they should sympathise with that ...

... but the whole conversation is interrupted by an attack by armoured flying Purifiers toting very big guns spouting Biblical quotations to justify their hatred of mutants. The van is stopped and Emma suggests they take her power dampener off so she can deal with them, but DD and Luke just exit the truck, Luke 1st because of his invulnerable skin. Mockingbird was driving with Thing in the passenger seat trying to sleep. Bobbi Morse leaps into battle (with *her* abilities enhanced by the Infinity Formula/Super-Soldier Serum as of #13). The Purifiers condemn the Avengers as mutant-sympathisers and finally Ben Grimm joins the fight.

With her hands still bound (and still power-dampened) Frost tries to escape. Daredevil tosses his billy-club to KO a Purifier who tries to shoot her. It ricochets to take down another who menaces Mockingbird and then finally knocks Emma out. Some of them call Thing a creature which doesn't make him happy. Bobbi contacts SHIELD for reinforcements. Cage survives several point-blank blasts and is about to unleash his rage when he remembers his wife and kid (and his old comrades Iron Fist and Misty Knight). This inspires him to rise up and overcome, alongside the others, until all the foe are defeated. But when Iron Man, Thor and the cops arrive to tidy up he borrows a cop's phone to call Jessica and tell her he's coming home. As he walks away DD tells IM and Thor that Luke has just quit the Avengers.

New Avengers (2010 series) #30 Review by (June 20, 2026)
This issue is bannered as part of the Avengers Vs X-Men event. It takes place after most of AvVsXM#12 where the final Phoenix X-Man Cyclops is defeated, but before the epilogue which lays out the post-event situation.

Iron Fist is with Daredevil and Luke Cage on the cover but on the inside he only appears in 1 flashback panel in Luke's memory.

Emma Frost will be seen in prison in AVX: Consequences #3. But Cyclops and Magneto free her to take part in the All-New X-Men series.

The Purifiers have been followers of the mutant-hating William Stryker since the X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills graphic novel. Their latest app was Avengers Academy #23. Their armour/weaponry here is a step up from their previous apps. Their next app will be ANXM #19-21 with Stryker's son Jason.

Despite 'quitting' Luke Cage, reunited with Jessica and Danielle, will hang around for our End Times finale in #31-34, as will Daredevil, Mockingbird and Thing. But before that they'll join Iron Man and Thor for the last issue of *their* End Times arc in Avengers #34.

Luke and Bobbi Morse will go straight there apart from an app in Daredevil (2011) #13.
DD himself will pop in to Wolverine & X-Men #19 and Secret Avengers #35 before his #12-16.
Thing and Iron Man will also be in W&XM#19, at least on screen. Then IM and Thor will be in the end of AvVsXM#12. Thing will go home for Fantastic Four #609 before joining IM in Amazing Spider-Man #692 and continuing himself into #693. Then all 3 will join DD in SAv#35.
IM and Thor will appear in 2 separate issues of the current Captain America series, and then Thor will head for Av#32-34. IM will pop in to DD's #15-16 and then Scarlet Spider #5. Thing will do more more FF stuff in #610 (where he'll be joined by IM) and Future Foundation #22 before Av#34. And IM will go on to Av's full Endtimes arc in #31-34.
