Savage Hulk #4 Review by (June 16, 2021)

Review: A nice wrap-up to the story arc with a scary premise to match the scary cover: Hulk with mental powers. And it all turns out well for the good guys, though I would have liked to see the Leader get it worse. And we see yet again that Bruce Banner has some influence over his big green alter ego. And remember kids, if Marvel ever holds a contest asking for a new character, demand She-Hulk Jean Grey!

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Savage Hulk #4 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
The X-Men are helpless as the Leader drains Gamma energy from the comatose Bruce Banner. Professor X tries to reach Marvel Girl’s mind but it’s closed off; she had transferred her mental link to Cyclops and forged another one with Angel. Banner starts to transform into Hulk but the treatment has increased his mental power—Banner’s newfound telekinesis frees the X-Men and they battle the Leader’s Humanoids. The highly intelligent Hulk rips Leader’s head apart, revealing him to be a drone, then he unleashes the Gamma power to feed back to the Leader in his remote location, wrecking that place. Against Xavier’s pleas, Hulk destroys the device for mental exhaustion. Hulk tears into the Humanoids while Xavier reveals that with the device destroyed, Banner is no longer in charge of the Hulk with the increased telekinetic abilities and they all flee the cave lab. The place explodes and the X-Men watch as the cave explodes—and then the Hulk, back to normal, emerges and spies the mutant heroes. He bounds over with anger and violence in his eyes; Xavier counsels his students to remain calm—then Hulk, after a few scary seconds, roars in Xavier’s face and leaps off. They rejoice that Xavier was able to keep Hulk from harming them but the Professor tells them, it was Banner who saved them, the man inside the monster….

Beast, Havok, Iceman, and Polaris also appear.
