Thor #10 Review by (December 2, 2020)

Review: Crazy Don Blake looks to be the chief villain of this story arc and he is powerful enough to make a formidable foe. Nicely nightmarish tale, revealing a supernaturally powered Don Blake who can defeat anyone short of Thor himself; not sure if that entirely makes sense but it’s what we have. Meanwhile, Thor is stuck out of town for a while and has a poignant meeting with his longtime foe the Midgard Serpent. Still ramping up the action in the plot, this is going in a rather interesting direction.

Comments: The Book of Kings has an entry for Red Norville who had Thor’s powers in THOR #273-278 and was made the God of Thunder in #478-483. Dimension Blood was first seen in DOCTOR STRANGE #384 and mentioned again in issue #3 of the present title.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor #10 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

An angry and possibly insane Donald Blake is in Asgard, determined to destroy everything Odin has created. First he rips all the pages about Thor from the Book of Kings then ponders activating the Destroyer before selecting Thor’s old axe Jarnbjorn. He is then confronted by Sif, Volstagg, and Beta Ray Bill and defeats them easily in combat. More warriors arrive, led by Hogun and Fandral, and Blake smashes through them, having all of the powers and memories of Thor. He slices off Sif’s thumb and claims her sword. With the sword he transports all the Asgardians to Dimension Blood, a hellscape inhabited by giant flies….

Thor, meanwhile, is trapped in the ruined remains of the idyllic small town in American where Don Blake had been placed; there, Thor finds the gravely wounded Midgard Serpent who confesses that he broke into this world to tell Blake he was merely a pawn of Odin. But Blake found the Odin Force in himself and stole the Serpent’s power and set forth to destroy everything Thor has ever loved….

In New York City, a shaven and cleanly dressed Don Blake looks up Jane Foster….
