Invincible Iron Man #11 Review by (October 20, 2023)
The only person supposedly remaining on Krakoa in Immortal X-Men is Prof X.

Marvel has a history of intelligent apes. There's the Super-Apes of the Red Ghost. And the Beasts Of Berlin from Giant-Man's Tales To Astonish days. Plus Iron Man fought 1 in #20 of his previous series.

Invincible Iron Man #11 Synopsis by Rob Johnson
Quick resume:- Feilong took over Stark Unlimited and used it to create Iron Sentinels for Orchis who attacked the mutant nation at their Hellfire Gala and forced most of them to flee Earth. Feilong also legally stopped Tony Stark from using his Iron Man armour so now he's undercover with stealth armour, even in the Avengers. Meanwhile he and mutant sympathiser Kingpin have taken over the Hellfire Club where he's been creating a totally new Mark 72 armour, and Emma Frost is posing as his aide Hazel Kendal. Last issue the pair got fake-married and Emma managed to plunder Feilong's mind for info on the Sentinels and also on a mystery metal that Tony's father Howard Stark had been seeking, which Emma recognised as the mutant's mysterium and which Tony needs for his new armour.

Now they're on a fake honeymoon in Hawaii. After ensuring that they've been conspicuous they retire to their suite. But Tony dons his stealth Mark Nil armour and heads off for the mutant nation's island Krakoa, while Emma keeps in continuous touch while Stark's tech lets her see what *he* sees. He approaches the island underwater to get past hovering guardian Sentinels and then heads inland on foot because his boot jets would give him away. Emma guides him to her White Palace where she has a stash of mysterium that's hopefully not been found.

He sneaks past some human troops and a talking gorilla. Emma tells him that Orchis have several of them and they're all highly intelligent. He reaches her bedroom which appears already ransacked and she directs him towards a trunk containing the metal. But the ape is looking for the same thing following some satellite spectrometer readings. So they fight for it. The man in the stealth armour denies being Tony Stark but the gorilla doesn't believe him. But eventually Stark ends the fight by bringing the ceiling down on his foe's head.

Tony opens the box and confirms to Emma that the metal's still inside. He spots a photo album that her daughters the Stepford Cuckoos made for her but she tells him to leave it because it would betray her real identity. He takes the trunk and walks out with it in stealth mode, but he senses being watched. (An editorial comment tells us that the place has a secret guardian whose identity can be found in Immortal X-Men.)

Later the couple return to the Hellfire Club where Stark retires to his secret lab. He uses the fabrication device that he 'liberated' from Stane International last issue to turn the mysterium into a walking stick. He intends to test this substance before incorporating it into his armour. To that end he visits Captain Marvel in the Jarvis Lounge. Try as she might she can't even bend it. Then he goes to see Dr Strange who finds it impervious to magic. While he's there Tony asks Stephen to look after a book for a friend. Finally he contacts Spider-Man who he asks to close his eyes. Then he whacks Spidey's leg with the stick to check that it doesn't even trigger his Spider-Sense. He says he's going to attack the Sentinels with it, and SM and everyone else can join in when he does.
