Prologue:
Millennia ago, the Demiurge created gods who fought among themselves for power.
But Gaia had a vision of a different cycle and so…
… Toranos has returned to Earth to face the new
Thor Corps, assembled by Thor Odinson. They are Jane Foster, Beta Ray Bill,
Loki, and Storm, each empowered by Mjolnir for 60 seconds until they touch the
magic hammer again. And so as they face their ancient enemy, they toss Mjolnir
back and forth among themselves to maintain the highest levels of power amongst
them. As the hammer flips back and forth, Toranos tries to grab it but fails
every time. Then Loki hurls the hammer straight at Toranos’ head…and the
creature catches it—and is transformed into a Thor because he is clearly
worthy. And the power of Thor is the power to hold back the storm, the power to
be worthy. And so Toranos develops a conscience, the ability to wield the power
with compassion and humility—and he suffers from the knowledge of what he has
done in his life. As he fades from view, he calls out to Thor that he did only
what he was set upon the Earth to do by his brother Utgard-Loki and Thor’s mother
Gaia….
Thor wants to know what he meant by this last
statement but he is gone. Thor thanks Storm for her help and offers to aid her
in her latest adventure, which she declines. Thor thanks Beta Ray Bill while
apologizing for not having acted as a friend to him in the past. Loki offers a
magic portal to send Jane home as Mister Horse is exhausted. Jane tells Thor
something is amiss in Valhalla and there is an omen that a warrior holding
Mjolnir will soon die. Thor seems okay for now and Jane then reveals that Odin,
who is behind this, has loosed a soul from Valhalla as his agent…
…Skurge the Executioner who is meeting with
Dario Agger about whether they can work together against Thor in an upcoming
mission and Skurge introduces his friend, Amora the Enchantress….
