Des, the oldest member of the group called They Who Wield Power, operates some controls and two metallic arms come out from the Flame of Life, grabbing the other two members of the trio, Prince Ray and the Wielder of the Flame. The arms absorb their life energy, killing them.

Bruce Banner tries turning into the Hulk, but the Flame stops him in mid transformation. His two personas, Banner and the savage Hulk, start fighting each other while the Flame keeps feeding from the Hulk’s strength. Des drinks an elixir and turns into Tyrannus!

The Goldbug attempts to thwart the villain is unsuccessful. But he can cover the Hulk with a golden substance. Unable to breathe, Hulk fights back and breaks free from such golden cover and the Flame’s energy-siphon apparatus that held him captive.

Tyrannus blasts him with a powerful beam that throws Hulk out of the edifice.

The people from El Dorado witness as their “savior” stand up while the Flame emerges from the building with Tyrannus on the side.

Also in this story. In flashbacks: Fantastic Four, Nova. In the shape of chess pieces: Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Absorbing Man, Hercules, Thor, Nova, Black Panther, Stegron.
