Avengers #2 Review by (July 19, 2010)
Comment: Thor is showing some very aggressive tendencies in this issue. His interest in plundering and fighting is at odds with the traditional version of the character.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Avengers #2 Synopsis by Kevin Hollander
Following their return from Norway, Hank Pym runs some tests on Thor to determine the limits of his strength. They are unable to properly find it and give up for the day. The Vision's attempts to analyze Thor's war hammer fail when he is unable to match it with on the periodic table. Pym's robotic assistant Ultron interrupts Vision's work to brag that it has performed a self-upgrade and subsequently renamed itself Ultron-2.

When an unidentified spaceship suddenly appears over Manhattan airspace, Nick Fury contacts the Avengers to investigate. When they arrive they meet the alien invader - Kang the Conqueror. Using technology from the 31st century he is able to defeat the Avengers, who attack individually instead of working together. He then takes them aboard his ship and places them in specialized containment cells. Once inside, Kang shows the spoils of victory to his beloved Mantis in hopes of winning her favor.

While the world watches the defeat of the Avengers, Fury plans his next move. He will personally leading an assault against Kang.
