The Falcon Fights Alone!

Synopsis

Captain America #154 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars
In a Harlem alley, the Falcon is severely beaten by a pair of anti-black bigots who resemble Captain America and Bucky, who want to know where the Falcon’s Cap, whom they consider an impostor, can be found. (He’s vacationing in the Bahamas with Sharon, standing up to a beach bully.) Sam’s nephew Jody and a pal hear the commotion and run to find Sam; failing that they tell Rafe and Leila who at first don’t want to help the hero they consider a sellout, but a community leader persuades Leila that the Falcon is good for the neighborhood and soon Rafe comes around. They assemble a group of men and set out for the warehouse where the phony Cap and Bucky have taken the Falcon. The false heroes are interrupted in their interrogation of the Falcon by the arrival of the rescuers. After a violent brawl, “Cap” manages to escape with an unconscious “Bucky” and the Falcon is too badly injured to pursue right away. He thanks the neighborhood group and informs them that this Captain America is an impostor, proved by his bigoted attitude and inaccurate costume, then sets off after his quarry. Falcon’s only lead is the warehouse and the trail of informers leads him to the owner, gang boss Morgan. Falcon demands answers, the ganglord tells him the warehouse was rented through the mail. The Falcon leaves with a threat. Elsewhere another investigation is going on: Officer Bob Courtney is unable to find Steve Rogers so reports his suspicions to the suspended Sgt. Muldoon, who wonders if Steve was involved in the frame-up. On his way to Mosca Cay in the Bahamas to warn the real Cap, Falcon drops by Avengers Mansion to inform them about the Captain America impostor—and is told that Cap is downstairs at the video monitor. The heroes race down to find the phony gone as soon as he heard the Falcon mention the whereabouts of his quarry. The Falcon must now beat the phony to Mosca Cay to save the life of the real Cap.
