Thor #4 Review by (March 11, 2020)
Review: And a story that started out to be apocalyptic is moving toward its climax: Galactus eats the rest of the planets he had on his menu (it’s a good thing they didn’t try to make each planet a full issue in itself as with issue #2). And for a big finish we see the Black Winter, leaving our heroes facing the biggest big bad of all. And Donny Cates had better not leave us hanging with that reveal of Loki hoisting Mjolnir or we shall be sore displeased.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor #4 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Thor faces Beta Ray Bill in battle over Thor’s aid to Galactus when Sif arrives to place Bill under her protection. Thor grows angry and hurls Mjolnir at her; Sif uses the power of Bifrost to transport the hammer to Jotunheim. She warns Thor against losing himself in a quest to prove he is still worthy….

And in Jotunheim, Loki picks up Mjolnir. “Very interesting….”

Thor recalls Mjolnir to his hand as Galactus reminds Thor he is still hungry. Thor sends Sif an Bill home with his promise to return when his work is done. After they are gone, the Herald of Thunder calls down a lightning blast that fells Galactus while recovering the Power Cosmic….

The mission continues: Sylus, an uninhabited graveyard world, is consumed by Galactus; IO-X4, inhabited by animals with precognition ready to be evacuated when Thor arrives; Vanysh MI, with a semi-sentient core that sacrifices itself gladly for the coming battle. And then they arrive at the fifth planet: Kryo, with an advanced civilization wanting to join forces—but before anyone can be evacuated, Galactus devours the world, killing everyone. Why? Thor has completed his mission and the Black Winter has arrived. Blindfolded to avoid seeing his fate, Thor promises that Galactus will be held accountable for all the lives taken but first...they face the Black Winter….
