Believing the new Thor to be a criminal caught in the act of robbing the Guggenheim Museum, Spider-Man attacks him, ignoring his claims of innocence. With Thor down, Spidey goes after Absorbing Man and Titania. Creel turns to steel and battles the Web-Slinger. Thor rushes to aid Spidey but the later thinks he is being attacked from behind and lashes out. In Asgard, Karnilla the Norn Queen reveals she is working with the bad guys while fooling Heimdall into believing she has allied with the good guys….

Creel and Titania finally hide at a construction site where she punches his lights out and he explains his scheme to scare her into going straight. She continues to smash him with large objects until Spidey and Thor arrive, after which the two baddies battle the two heroes while Titania continues to smash Creel….

At the hospital, Dr. Paretsky is about to confess his love for his patient Susan Austin when she is interrupted by the visiting Ed Marrero….

Word comes to the police of the super-melee and Lt. Marcus Stone leads the cops of Code: Blue to the site where they open fire on the combatants. An enraged Creel hurls his ball and chain at the cops which Thor is able to deflect with his hurled hammer. The cops shoot Creel but the steel-jacked bullets only turn him to steel and he strikes back. Thor takes him on while the cops fire a device at Titania that enwraps her in a metal ribbon which Creel is able to break open…but she still punches him in the head for his betrayal. Creel jumps on Thor, intending to touch Mjolnir and gain the power of Uru so he can escape with Titania and make up. Thor’s only recourse is to strike the hammer on the ground and change back to Eric Masterson. With Creel being groggy and human, Eric is able to punch him out and then turn back to Thor. Titania runs to her fallen lover which just seem wrong to Thor….

In Asgard, Karnilla plots strategy with allies Uroc the Invincible and Stoll the Wolf God, suggesting they recruit more allies from Midgard….

Thor #448 Review by (April 19, 2022)

Review: Decent battle between the good guys and the bad guys with the most interesting bit being the Thor and Spidey each think the other is a loser. And the second story just takes us back to the echoes of the Black Galaxy Saga as we wait for an interesting twist to suggest that this isn’t a mere rehash of that mini-event.

Comments: First story: Part two of two parts. Ron Frenz and Tom DeFalco collaborated on the plot. Susan Austin awoke from her coma in issue #444. Stoll the Wolf God first appeared in JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #101 with his second appearance being in THOR #288, this is his third appearance and he really likes stretching them out. Second story: Part two of four parts. The New Immortals plot resumes from the Black Galaxy Saga in issues #419-424. The letters page includes one by future horror novelist Joseph J. Christiano.
