Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #2 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Having inadvertently caused a riot and the death of a police officer, Thor Girl flies to Washington to meet with Prodigy, Ultragirl in pursuit. Prodigy has assembled the media and defends Thor Girl as one of the heroes, voluntarily turning herself in, which comes as a surprise to Thor Girl….

In Illinois, Cloud 9 has been watching this on television with disgust, seeing it as the same hypocrisy as the Initiative. Then a fight between two panicked family men erupts outside and Cloud 9 intervenes before anyone can be hurt….

In New Jersey, Gravity is shaken by reports of the death of Captain America, and Firestar must push him into action, rushing into a burning building to rescue people. But then they discover that a dangerous criminal is holed up inside and an unwitting Gravity is shot down by Crossbones….

Thor Girl is imprisoned in Washington. Prodigy tells Ultragirl that TG’s trial will be delayed while the nation is in chaos. Then word comes of Crossbones’ involvement in Jersey and Prodigy dispatches Ultragirl to the scene. Meanwhile, two shadowy federal agents question Thor Girl in her cell, insinuating she is one of the Asgardian terrorists. She challenges them to enter her cell—and she then receives a severe electric shock….

Other heroes battle Crossbones but he is a formidable fighter. Firestar surrounds him with fire and Gravity shows he is unharmed—so the villain tosses a grenade at him, which Geiger catches, smothering the explosion in her hands. Ultragirl arrives to see Geiger being taken away in an ambulance. Gravity blames himself for the fiasco and quits, flying off into the distance….

Hardball has called Komodo to Las Vegas, which he and the city’s police have placed under martial law. Then Hardball receives a message from Prodigy that he and his team will have to protect Vegas from one of the hammer-wielders, Juggernaut, possessed by Kuurth, Breaker of Stone….

As the mysterious agents try to torture Thor Girl into cooperating, Cloud 9 seeps into her cell to effect a rescue….
