New York City is in chaos, Jake Olson sees paramilitary
troops fighting Heimdall in the streets and it takes a bazooka to knock him
down. Jake rushes to tend to him but he is restrained by the soldiers. He
explains that a paramedic must treat everyone and do they have any idea what
Thor will do? They tell him Thor is dead….
The Consortium of Nations gets word that the bomb went off
as planned and then radio communication is cut off. They assume it was
interference from the blast….
Zarrko, the Tomorrow Man, dashes through the ruins of
Asgard, seeking to recover his pocket navigator which enables him to travel
through time. He discovers an armory and finds his device inside. As he tries
to reset it, he is bowled over by Thialfi and threatened with a return to his
cell; Zarrko responds that he is the best friend they have….
Thor breaks into the Consortium of Nations’s meeting room,
calling down lightning to strike them all down. And then he blows apart the
mountain their hideout was concealed in….
In Asgard, the heroes battle the invaders and the soldiers
have finished mining the city and teleport out as the charges are detonated.
Asgard is blown apart, Zarrko interrupted in his attempts to save the city; he
tries to open a time portal but Thialfi is hurled into it instead. Jake Olson
watches from the ground as the city is broken into pieces which drop from the
sky, destroying Manhattan. Thor arrives to take on the Consortium’s army,
stopping cannon shells with Mjolnir. Jake realizes that Thor will never let
humanity have its world back so he must now force Thor to accept that he and
Thor are one: he seizes Mjolnir in flight, proving himself worthy. He beats
Thor with his own hammer but Thor, lacking all humanity, blasts Jake with
lightning from his eyes and hands, killing him. He kneels by Jake’s body,
telling him that he wanted only to help but he underestimated the pettiness of
mortal man. Surveying the ruins of New York, Thor blames the human race for
wanting to retain power. He decides he did not go far enough in ruling Earth
and he tries to lift Mjolnir but can’t…so he erupts in anger….
