Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #331

While the Hulkbusters are attempting to capture and kill the Rick Jones Hulk, Clay Quartermain contacts the morgue to retrieve the corpse of Thunderbolt Ross.

Meanwhile, tensions rise between Betty Ross and Bruce Banner, leading to a heated argument. Fearing for Rick’s life, Bruce uses a gamma ray machine to transform into the Hulk—this time with gray skin.

The (Gray) Hulk immediately destroys the gamma ray device. At that moment, a morgue employee named Samuel Sterns approaches and offers the Hulk a deal: help eliminate both the Rick Jones Hulk and Banner himself.

In return, Sterns asks the Hulk to repair the broken machine. His true motive is revealed—he wants to regain his powers and become the Leader once again!
