Synopsis

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #399 synopsis by Julio MM
Rating: 4 stars

Devastated by Marlo Chandler’s murder, Rick Jones turns to the brightest minds in the Marvel Universe for help. He pleads with Doctor Strange, Reed Richards, and Hank Pym, hoping that magic, science, or advanced technology might offer a way to revive Marlo. But despite their brilliance and compassion, each of them admits the same painful truth: they cannot bring her back. Her death is final—beyond their reach.

Just as Rick begins to lose hope, the Leader—manipulative and ever opportunistic—approaches Rick with a promise: he claims he has the means to resurrect Marlo. Whether through gamma science, cloning, or some twisted experiment, the Leader offers what no one else can. Rick, desperate and emotionally shattered, is left with a harrowing choice: trust the man responsible for so much destruction, or let Marlo remain dead.

Meanwhile, the fallout from the Mount’s siege continues. Hulk, disgusted by Agamemnon’s alliance with the Leader, makes a decisive move: he quits the Pantheon. For Hulk, the betrayal cuts deep—not just because the Leader is his nemesis, but because Agamemnon’s compromise undermines everything the Pantheon claimed to stand for. Hulk walks away, disillusioned and furious, severing ties with the group he once believed in.
