Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulk #171 Synopsis by Fredrik Jullum
Our hero, the incredible Hulk, is hiding in a box inside a plane that's bringing Betty Ross back to the base. The plane lands, and Betty is finally reunited with her father, Thunderbolt Ross. Hulk, now reverted to Bruce Banner, sneaks out of the plane, and climbs down a valve to get inside the base.

Meanwhile, two mysterious figures are hiding inside a hangar while pointing a massive gun (possibly a tank) out of the door. They fire on a plane nearby, blowing it up. Colonel John Armbruster starts planning an attack on the hangar when the two figures get out and start attacking the base itself. It turns out to be.. Oooh, the suspense.. Rhino and Abomination!

No big surprise there as they were on the cover. General Ross attacks Abomination, but is knocked out by one hit, while Rhino finds Betty and takes her hostage.

Meanwhile, Jim Wilson and his girlfriend Talia are on their way to the base, but are stopped by soldiers from nearby bases that surround it. Bruce, who's been hiding in a room side the base, now decides to take a walk, and finds the prisoners in one of the cells designed for Hulk. But then, Abomination attacks him from behind. Unsurprisingly, Banner turns into Hulk and knocks the Abomination down.

Now it's Rhino's turn to attack from behind. Hulk isn't very happy about everybody attacking him, and knocks down the Rhino as well.

Meanwhile, Abomination has found a laser gun, and starts firing at Hulk. Hulk doesn't like guns, so he knocks down a wall and walks away, while Abomination and Rhino start making another plan.

Later, Jim and Taila have snack into the base, and sneak around trying to figure out what's going on, when they bump into the Hulk. Hulk fills Jim in on what he remembers, and they make a plan to beat the villain monsters.

Rhino and Abomination are in the control room, getting ready for whatever they're planning, when Talia suddenly runs past the door. The two follow in case she heard anything about a certain bomb, but are attacked by Hulk once they climb up a ladder. Jim climbs down the ladder, and goes to the cell to talk to Ross. Ross tells Jim about the Gamma-bomb that's part of the base's self-destruction mechanism (am I the only one who think that's a bad idea?)

Abomination has started the mechanism, so the base, and Hulk, will go sky-high in less than 3 minutes. Ross sends Jim off to turn off the bomb while guiding him along the way, and manages to stop the countdown right before the base blows up.

Now back to the battle between Rhino, Abomination and Hulk. After trading some punches, Hulk gets bored, and walks away while both of the villains storm him from the opposite side. The two collide, and the impact makes a crater. Ow. So everything is over, the villains are defeated, and Hulk is the hero of the day, for once. Even Ross congratulates him...

Then Armbruster suddenly captures Hulk in one Hulk-Capturing-Devices, ruining everything. Yeah. To be continued...
