Synopsis

Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #386 synopsis by Julio MM
Rating: 4 stars

Delphos, the Pantheon’s seer, gazes into the future—and what she sees shakes her to the core. A new tyrant will rise, one as monstrous and destructive as Hitler himself. His name is Max Meer, a ten-year-old boy with latent psychic abilities and a chilling destiny. Delphos sees no hope, no redemption—only the end of freedom.

Max, the son of a foreign ambassador, is visiting Jerusalem with his family. The Pantheon, divided by fear and duty, responds with a controversial plan: Agamemnon secretly dispatches Achilles to assassinate the boy before his dark future can unfold. At the same time, he sends the Hulk on a conflicting mission—to protect Max and bring him to safety. Hulk, unaware of Achilles’ orders, brings Rick Jones along for support.

As Hulk arrives in Jerusalem, he encounters Sabra, the Israeli superheroine. Misunderstandings and tensions erupt into a violent clash between the two, their ideologies and tempers colliding in a brutal fight.

Meanwhile, Greta Rabbin, daughter of the Jewish president, convinces Max to explore the city. Their innocent stroll turns perilous when Achilles finds them and closes in. Max attempts to defend himself using his emerging mental powers, but Achilles—invulnerable and unyielding—is unaffected.

Just as Achilles prepares to strike, Rick Jones intervenes, risking everything to save Max. His courage and timing prevent a tragedy, leaving the future uncertain—but not yet doomed. The battle between fate and free will has only just begun.
