Incredible Hulk #2 Review by (November 2, 2014)
What a lift. I stated in my comments of issue #1 that I strongly disliked it. But that's hardly the case with this second installment. The story is richer and much more engaging. Yes, perhaps too many pieces of data are thrown at once (Mad Squad, B.R.A.I.N., Banner having a tumor in his head...). But this #2 issue is a very good read nonetheless. And the artwork is better (nice splash of the Hulk battling the gamma-spawned sharks, or the two wild pigs splash cliffhanger), but it is still not of my entire satisfaction. Note: An army of pencilers assisted Silvestri with this issue.

Comments: First appearance of the Mad Squad, Mister Gor, and B.R.A.I.N.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulk #2 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara
We are taken back a few weeks ago. Bruce Banner and Betty Ross are on the beach of a beautiful deserted island. They're trying to give their marriage one last chance But Banner is absent in his thoughts. Betty realizes of this and he finally admits that he is there to work. Upset, Betty turns into the Red She-Hulk and leaps away.

We return to the present day. Banner is furious because he has been unable to recreate his greatest achievement: The Hulk. Although his monster self has been a curse, and Banner had endlessly searched for a cure (in vain), now that they are split, he misses him! Hulk is a vital part of Banner, and he wants the Hulk back. If all his experiments fail, he will recreate and detonate a Gamma bomb to achieve his goals.

Meanwhile, agent Amanda Von Doom takes the bearded Hulk to the surface. Onboard a big ship, Amanda reveals that her secret government-sponsored group is called the Mad Squad. Their mission is to locate and eliminate dangerous scientists who are a big menace to the world. Her team includes Mr. Gor and a sentient machine called B.R.A.I.N. They seek the Hulk's assistance because they have learned that Banner has been turning animals, including sharks, into Gamma spawned monsters. As a result, many ships have sunk in that area. Banner must be halted.

But the Hulk isn't interested in helping out. He keeps repeating that Banner isn't his problem. Suddenly, the ship is hit hard. Hulk, Amanda, and B.R.A.I.N. fall into the waters. They are quickly surrounded by giant green-skinned sharks. They fight them, and end up on the shores of an island. Nevertheless, the Hulk does not change his mind and leaves, digging a hole to reach his underground lair, the Moloid caves.

A multitude of underground beings rejoice as they hear the sounds of someone powerful coming. They think it is the Hulk, their savior. But two large Gamma-spawned wild pigs (created by Banner) arrive instead. They state that they came to kill the Hulk, plus everything or everyone he cherishes.
