Totally Awesome Hulk #4 Review by (November 5, 2019)
Review: And Amadeus’s first arc as the Totally Awesome Hulk comes to a satisfying end, with a couple of reminders to our hero that he must work to stay in control of his new alter ego. Most poignant note: Bruce Banner sheds tears, aware of what Amadeus will be facing as the next Hulk.

Comments: Origin of Amadeus Cho as Hulk. Lady Hellbender returns in MONSTERS UNLEASHED (2017 series). The last of the shrunken monsters is one of the creatures from the classic Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Totally Awesome Hulk #4 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Maddy Cho, via the drone Kegger, tries to awaken Hulk (Amadeus Cho) as he is being carried off by Lady Hellbender in her ship. The drowsy Hulk tries to kiss his captor and she punches him but changes her mind and gives him a smooch, which disturbs She-Hulk and Spider-Man (M. Morales) who are watching along with Maddy . In the flying food truck/HQ Maddy hooks on to Lady H’s ship while Shulkie jumps over to fight but Lady H dumps the huge canisters containing all her captive Earth monsters and the heroes are in trouble. Hulk smashes through his chains, rips off his control disc and drops to the ground to show the others that the released monsters aren’t dangerous—until Lady Hellbender turns them aggressive via their control discs. So Hulk and She-Hulk dive into a the massive free-for-all while Spidey protects Maddy  who tells Amadeus he finally has to tap into the Hulk’s power to save the day….

Kenya, four months ago: Hulk bursts out of his containment capsule ready to detonate. Iron Man and Black Panther are having trouble calculating the teleporter to send Hulk to the Negative Zone without taking part of the country with him so they have Monica Rappaccini awaken Amadeus Cho—except he has already freed himself. Wearing a diving suit he has just modified himself Amadeus approaches Hulk and drains off his lethal energy, restoring him to Bruce Banner, but absorbs it himself, creating a new Hulk….

Now Amadeus lets Hulk’s full power flow through him, shrugging off the monsters and finding it awesome (as the Hulk in his imagination is now in the back seat of the car) and now Maddy and Jen have to warn him to regain control else he destroy the coast of Hawaii. So he thinks and comes up with a plan: he seizes a power transformer and electrocutes the monsters, burning out their control discs and setting them free from Lady H’s power. Lady H kisses Hulk goodbye and tells him to call her when he is ready to accept who he really is, heading back to her home planet….

Epilogue: Amadeus, Jen, Spidey, and Maddy round up the monsters, shrinking them and storing them in a box. As Amadeus passes a mirror, he thinks he sees the Hulk looking back but a second glance shows him only his own reflection….
